Introduction: Schistosomiasis Mansoni, caused by the parasite Schistosoma mansoni, has the man as definitive host and as intermediate hosts the mollusks from the genus Biomphalaria sp. The transmission of the disease occurs in fresh water environments inhabited by B. glabrata, B. straminea and B. tenagophila molluscs, which release cercariae into the water. In case of human contact with that aquatic environment, contamination may occur. In order to control this parasitosis it’s extremely important to identify the risk areas of transmission of S. mansoni of an area. Aim: Identify risk areas of transmission of S. mansoni in the Municipality of Lagoa da Prata – MG, through the survey of the malacofauna and identification of the species. Methodology: Molluscs were collected from September 2017 to May 2018, at the Municipal’s lake, Palmeiras’s neighborhood lake and at Chico Silveira Stream. The collections were done with the help of metal tongs and fishing nets, and taken to the Microscopy Laboratory of UNIFOR – MG where they were measured and identified through morphologic aspects. Results: 1961 specimens of molluscs were obtained, 46,51% from the B. straminea, genus, 32,69% from B. glabrata, 15,5% from Physa marmorata, 3,67% from Melanoides tuberculata, 0,87% from Drepanotrema anatinum and 0,76% from Lymnaea columella. Conclusion: In the municipality of Lagoa da Prata – MG, molluscs of the genus Biomphalaria sp. were found, considering the city as a risk area of transmission of schistosomiasis.
