The possible clash between evolution teaching and religion is a matter of world relevance. There are several possible ways of accommodating these two perspectives, one of them is the view of theistic evolutionists. We analyzed public views regarding the acceptance of theistic evolutionism, in a sample in Brazil. The variables religion and level of education were analyzed. Regarding religion, it was observed that theists tended to agree with the statement. Schooling also influenced the choice of respondents. As the education level increased, the frequency of disagreement also increased, maybe this result is related to the acquisition of knowledge about evolution.
Keywords: theistic evolution, creationism, biological evolution.
