Objective: To map the literature in search of databases focused on patients with acute leukemia.
Introduction: Databases are important tools in oncology studies, making it possible to assess demographic differences in diagnosis, treatment, and outcome. There are significant advantages to its development and implementation in oncology services, such as collecting real-life data that can impact patient care, teaching, research, and health policies.
Methods: A peer-reviewed scoping review according to the PRISMA protocol was carried out using the Medline, Web of Science, Scopus, and Bireme databases. The inclusion criteria were the presence of the descriptors in the title or abstract and papers with details of the database development stages.
Results: The four studies selected were descriptive studies; three of them dealt with cancer databases in general, but with acute leukemias, and one of them focused on acute leukemias, making it possible to assess the organization of these databases and the difficulty of implementation.
Conclusion: There is a shortage of studies on database development in the context of care for patients with acute leukemia. These studies found similarities to the records collected from general oncology databases.
