Abstract

Introduction: Scientific research on the challenges of technological innovation using Artificial
Intelligence (AI) has become a relevant topic for many researchers today. Environmental
Science is one of the areas that most uses AI as an innovation, and when it comes to
meliponiculture, the combination of these emerging technologies may even transform the way
honey is produced. Objective: To conduct a systematic review of the main innovative methods
using AI in meliponiculture, to analyze the dissemination of these new technologies in the
context of honeybee production. Methodology: The articles were classified after reading the
title and abstract in accordance with the study topic. Searches were conducted on Science Direct
and the AI tools Elicit and Scispace, selecting 12 articles for the development of the research.
Results: Among the studies found, five were conducted in Brazil, three in Malaysia, one in
Kenya, one in Indonesia, and two were literature reviews. The main topics addressed were the
creation of sensors for collecting flight data and assisting in the management of hives, referring
to the measurement of temperature and humidity in the hives and the identification and
classification of species. Conclusion: It was possible to observe that there is already interest in
developing research aimed at using AI methods to innovate the management of stingless bee
hives, especially within the Brazilian scenario.
