Introduction: The profile of a physiotherapist is built on a scientific technical specialization, while the teaching training is given in a continuous way through personal improvement courses which is solidified through teaching and research throughout ones career. Objective: The aim of this study was to identify and compare the profile of the physiotherapist teacher of a public and of a private educational institution through his/her curriculum (resume) analysis into the Lattes Platform. Methods: This was a quantitative, analytical and transversal study. A total of 621 curricula were analyzed, being (483) from private institutions and (138) from public institutions, from all regions of Minas Gerais state. Results: In terms of higher teaching, when combined with doctoral and postdoctoral qualifications of public institutions teachers, the number corresponds to about 96.38%, and about 34.77% to private institutions teachers. Conclusion: The Public institutions teachers present a more career-oriented training which focuses on Stricto Sensu specialization while the private institutions teachers invest on Lato Sensu specialization focused on assistance.
