  The Revista do Curso de Direito do UNIFOR of the Centro Universitário de Formiga – UNIFOR announces the Call for Papers for the special issue of the thematic dossier “Democracy and Big Techs: The War of Affects from Other Perspectives,” inviting scholars and researchers to engage in critical reflection on the impacts of digital platforms, algorithms, and artificial intelligence on democracy, affective life, and contemporary institutions.

  The aim is to deepen and broaden the debate initiated in a previous issue by bringing together original and unpublished studies that examine the instrumentalization of affects as a mechanism of power, social control, and political dispute within the context of Big Techs.

  The special issue was concluded today and brings together 11 scholarly articles that analyze the impact of digital platforms on democracy, fundamental rights, and the regulation of the informational environment. Organized by Professors Dr. José Luiz Quadros de Magalhães and Dr. Nélida Reis Caseca Machado, the dossier “Democracy and Big Techs: War of Affects” marks the close of the 2025 editorial year and announces the continuation of the debate in a new special issue scheduled for 2026.
