The UNIFOR Law Journal is pleased to announce the launch of the publication of its II Special Edition: “Democracy and Big Techs: The War of Affects from Other Perspectives.”

2026-06-18

The UNIFOR Law Journal informs all researchers, readers, and users registered in the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform that, on June 18, 2026, it commenced the publication of its second Special Issue, corresponding to Vol. 17, No. 2 (2026), entitled “Democracy and Big Techs: The War of Affects Through Other Perspectives.” This issue, coordinated and scientifically curated by Professors José Luiz Quadros de Magalhães, Ph.D., and Nélida Reis Caseca Machado, Ph.D., presents, as a continuation and further development of the discussions initiated in the first Special Issue, additional perspectives on the themes and questions previously addressed.

The publication of this second issue became necessary due to the complexity of the subject matter and the depth of the questions arising from it, particularly in light of the plurality of approaches, concerns, and theoretical perspectives involved. Its purpose is to broaden the understanding of the mechanisms employed by Big Tech companies and their impacts on democracy, political culture, subjectivity, and the rule of law. Furthermore, it aims to encourage critical and thoughtful reflection on the legal, ethical, technological, and affective possibilities for addressing these challenges.

We wish all our readers an insightful and rewarding reading experience.
