This article addresses the issue of voluntary renunciation of the right to privacy, indicating the link between intimacy and freedom. Therefore, it demonstrates the interdependence between the right to intimacy and freedom, based on the process of self-indulgence. Furthermore, this research delimits the concept of the institutes of privacy, intimacy and private life, affirming the distinction between them. Furthermore, it discusses the principle of human dignity, indicating it as a unifying value of the fundamental rights provided for in the Federal Constitution of 1988, in addition to conceptualizing the scope of the right to intimacy and private life as species of the right to privacy. To support the possibility of restricting the right to privacy, this article cites the exposure of behavior and thoughts in television programs, known as "reality shows", and on social networks. It uses the tools of documentary and bibliographic methodologies and, finally, it concludes by stating that it is possible to renounce the exercise of the right to privacy, as long as this act is balanced with the principle of human dignity.
