The present work, focusing on the television broadcast of police news, aims to promote an analysis of whether the media space reinforces or encourages the exclusionary behavior of political currents based on hateful actions and disregard for Human Rights. The work structure is divided into three topics. The first presents, within the concept of sensationalism, among other aspects, the format of the “police-style” newscast, the role of the presenter and the language used and directed to the viewer. Then, the topic “Media sensationalism and proximity to fascist discourse: Human Rights violated” focuses on the discourse disseminated in these newscasts that repeatedly violate Human Rights. Based on the resounding opinions emitted in these police programs, an intertwining of these with the elements belonging to the fascist movement is outlined. Finally, the third topic proposes the use of Human Rights Education, allied to the relevance of the media, as one of the alternatives to combat the advance of neo-fascism in Brazil. The theoretical-methodological perspective of this work is based on bibliographic analysis on topics such as "media sensationalism" (JÚNIOR, 2016; NEGRINI, 2008; VARJÃO, 2015; ZEILMANN, 2021), "fascism" (DORNELLES, 2017; LIMA, 2018; LÖWY, 2021), “Human Rights” (FURLANI, 2009; SANTOS, 2013) and “Human Rights Education” (DIAS; BRUM, 2017; DIBBERN; CRISTOFOLETTI, 2017). It is important to reflect on the limits of freedom of expression of television channels, since they are public concessions, when they fail to comply with the legal precepts of creation and operation and consent to infractions that bring harm and have conflicts with the Federal Constitution and international treaties.
