The main purpose of this article is to examine the evolution of Brazilian legislation on the right to accessibility and its conformation to the provisions of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, 2007, proposing reflections on the socioeconomic implications arising from the observance of these guidelines. In this context, the importance of implementing architectural accessibility in public spaces and buildings was emphasized. The constitutional principles that advocate national development, the reduction of inequalities and the promotion of the good of all were used as theoretical references. Applying the deductive method and undertaking a theoretical - bibliographical study, it was concluded that the implementation of these dictates is in perfect accordance with the plan outlined by the constituent legislator to enable and promote socioeconomic progress through the full participation of all citizens in conducting the direction of public administration in the country, which brings clear benefits to the entire population.
